Control
The USV is an excellent platform for the study of control theory. Naval control is largely a novel field of study with diverse applications and unique challenges. These challenges are largely derived from the substantial disturbances introduced by wind and waves, alongside the lack of odometry data available. Throughout the VantTec USV project, multiple control strategies have been employed and combined to solve these problems. Apart from academic publications, these control strategies have been tested in Roboboat competitions.
